An interactive invasion will see GT Interactive and Scholastic Entertainment Inc. joining forces to unleash an Animorph game onto the PlayStation. Animorphs: Shattered Reality will be based on the best-selling book series and popular TV show.
The interactive adventure will enable players to take on the guise of their favorite Animorphs character - Jake, Rachel, Marco or Cassie in a desperate bid to save the world from the evil Yeerks. Players can transform any of the Animorphs characters into various animals they touch to help thwart the Yeerks plans for world domination, while eluding Human-Controllers and other aliens along the way.
The game will capture the true essence of the series, incorporating a mysterious storyline into dynamic gameplay. Starting out in morphed form, the Animorphs have to battle it out against a horde of Hork-Bajir and Taxxons within a Yeerk pool cave. The evil Visser 3 then arrives with the final piece for the Continuum Crystal, all set to wipe out the Animorphs forever. Fortunately, the device misfires, shattering both the crystal and reality into pieces. Naturally, players have to gather up all of the shards of the Time Matrix Crystal and only by piecing back together the timeline will they finally be able to return safely home and bring the world back to reality.
Each character has their own unique environment to explore, including urban,
underground and indoor areas. In all, nine animals will be available to morph
into, ranging from tigers to wolves and rhinos. For battles, each character
also has the ability to morph into specific animals, depending upon the environment
and enemy profile. Based over 19 unique levels, the game will take on an action
adventure style with plenty of different level missions, including destroying
orbs, saving Trebors and rescuing humans. Animorphs will be morphing over to
the PlayStation this August.
